The Beauty of Flax

My second contribution to the Papermaking magazine Auction was to "buy now" five pounds of Belgian flax.  The large box arrived this week. It was more than I expected.  A nice note from Amanda Degener telling me she has 200 pounds of the stuff still in case I wanted more. It will take me a bit to get through what I have. Making paper from flax is a process.

The package was like one of those meals in a box things -- every thing you need to make a meal, but in this case, flax paper. Inside there was flax packaged in all the stages of plant fiber preparation, from raw flax to the golden hair flax fiber, to the papers each stage produces.
